GET HOME BEFORE DARK

Get home before dark

Don’t take the road less traveled…its not safe

Flights of thought sit on the telephone wires taunting you with what could have been

Mocking your well-worn life, partaking in the safety of the dried, cracked rut

Get home before dark

Ignore the street signs of would have, could have, and shoulda been

Those are dead end streets of the past

No matter how intensely you try to unthink it…. it’s too late… the ship has sailed

Get home before dark

Your only chance is to lay your head on your pillow…pray for sleep

Fend of the regrets, acquiesce to the cut of the doubled edged sword of all truths

Eventually the light of day will give you permission to go on because you got home before dark.
