~MY TRIBUTE~

This is a painting I did in memory of Junior Robles and Byron Lindsay. The photo that I painted the picture from was taken in 1978, during the San Diego vs LA tournament on HBO.
Byron was rated number 3 in the nation in the light weight division at the time of his passing and he was my sparing partner and my good friend. Junior was a father figure and a hero to all the guys that boxed for him and he was a pillar in the community. After his tragic death every person young and old came to the gym, some to make a comeback, some to just workout in the gym one time more time. The gym was so crowded it was impossible to conduct proper workouts, so I just let everyone do what they wanted. It was quite humbling to see so many grown men and boys working out with tears in their eyes
